My conversions, on the other hand, are meant to capture subtle color shifts, facial details, and true-to-life shading. Most patterns use between 110 and 130 thread colors, with duplicates for fuller coverage, and the chart sizes range from 12x15” up to 24x32”, depending on your subject and composition. The result is a rich, highly detailed project that is absolutely frame-worthy and perfect as a meaningful long-term gift or a centerpiece to your home.

This type of pattern is ideal for intermediate to experienced stitchers. If you’re a beginner, don’t worry, cross-stitch is still just one stitch (an “X”) repeated and you’ll be stitching someone or something you love, which makes it all the more motivating. You’ll just want to be prepared for a long-term project that may take months (or even years) to finish and be treasured for even longer.

Step 1 — Choose Your Canvas Size

There are five subject-based sizes available. Choose the one that best suits your photo:

• Solo Close-Up – Approximately 12×15” to 14×16”. Best for one person or pet in a close-up or headshot style photo. Small pets can often be stitched full-body at this size.

• Solo Full Body – Approximately 14×18” to 16×20”. Great for one person or pet in a full-body portrait.

• 2 People/Pets – Approximately 18×20” to 20×24”. Best for two people or pets: either headshots or full-body depending on the photo.

• 3 People/Pets – Approximately 20×24” to 22×28”. Great for three people or pets: either headshots or full-body.

• Group (4–5 Subjects) – Approximately 22×28” to 24×32”. Perfect for family-style or group portraits featuring four to five subjects.

If you have more than five subjects, or want a more complex layout, just send me a message. I can provide a custom quote for a larger or more detailed commission.
